Hello Kansas B.A.S.S. Nation (KBN) anglers! We look forward to seeing everyone at the KBN Conservation Day and Tournament scheduled for July 13, 2019, at state park boat ramp at Milford Reservoir. We will be incorporating a new, conservation-friendly method of weighing our catches at the big bass jackpot tournament with WAFWA Fisheries Chiefs in the morning prior to the conservation work day. We are asking KBN anglers with smart phones to download WhatsApp for their phone prior to the event. After downloading the app, text your name or identifiable handle to 785-623-1782 and ask to join the "KBN Conservation" group chat. I will add these requests to that member chat circle. We will be recording weights using WhatsApp. This app is similar to your text messaging program on your phone. Her is how it works. Portable scales will be given to each boater who has the WhatsApp application on their phone. Immediately after the catch we ask the WhatsApp group member to photograph the angler, fish and scale with the legible weight following their catch and return the fish to its familiar habitat immediately. This is a conservation practice that our club has been doing this year and we find that it works well. It is something new. Some will like it and some will not but we are excited to incorporate it for this event. If you have questions downloading the application or joining the group please don't hesitate to give me a call.
Sincerely, Steven Hausler, KBN Conservation Director, 785-623-1782.
