Qualifier proposal submitted by Travis Burch July 30, 2024. Travis
Burch proposes the following for BASS Nation Championship qualifying in 2025 and 2026.
a. ONE BNC QUALIFYING EVENT EACH YEAR.
b. Held during the period Feb. 1 - Oct. 30th Held on a lake within 750 miles of the geographical center of Kansas(Bushton, KS.).
c. NEW BID SCORE PROCESS - Held at the highest bidding venue/chamber/city, allowing The Tournament Director, State Clubs, and State Staff to negotiate with local CVB/Chamber for incentives and grants based on their date availability (not to exceed 6 days of practice/tournament). Per the Bylaws, this format will be in effect for two consecutive seasons. We propose that our BNC event be “shopped” amongst various lake/city/cvb communities throughout our region for the best possible offer. Money raised by proposals will be divided as mentioned below.
d. Distance bid deduction cost score disclaimer. $2 per mile will be calculated to deduct from the total bid. To promote less travel and/or bigger proposals from further locations. ie: Russell Kansas Bids $3,000 and Grove, OK. bids $3,500. The bids would be calculated like this. $102 off Russel bid. Meaning their bid score is 2898 and Grove would be 2800. So in this example Wilson would win.
e. Staff Room Savings score increase disclaimer. If staff room or rooms are comped as part of a proposal they will be valued at that resort's normal anglers rate for that season when factoring the bid score. ie: resort offers one room for KBN TD to stay if we fill the 9 other rooms for the event. Say
3 nights savings for TD at 100 a night. The score would increase by 300. Now making the above bullet point example Grove OK. Score would be 3100
f. Total CVB/Raised Funds minus(-) T.D. / Staff expenses = remaining to split. Split money 25% Youth Program, 25% Conservation projects(use others money to improve our lakes), 50% BNC Qualifying Anglers (travel money divided equally).
g. 100% of all entry money is paid out at the tournament (minus any credit card/banking/software fees). Using a 20% payout chart. (See link).
h. Bids due by Oct. 30th 2025 for the following year(2026) and announced at fall the banquet. This year is due by December 31st 2024 for a no later than Jan. 10th, 2025 announcement for the 2025 KS Qualifier.
i. We propose a new way of scheduling the competition days. The area's bid picks the amount of fishing days. Not to exceed 6 consecutive days of practice/tournament. 3 max or 2 min. for both practice and qualifier. Cities pay more for the more they get. So could be 3 days practice 3 days qualifier but no less than 2 tournament and 2 competition.
j. Top boater finishers and top co angler finishers will be awarded the BNC spots as designated by KBN membership based on the Bassmaster B.A.S.S. Nation allocation. The next several (10 at this writing) boaters places and co anglers places will receive the “Golden Ticket” codes for reserved entry spots into the nearest Open Regional.
k. BNC qualifiers will receive the monetary support listed above upon verification of their completion of the BASS Nation Championship on site check-in they have qualified for.
l. Tournament Director and/or Staff helping with the weigh in that could change the outcome of the tournament are not allowed to compete (weighmaster, check in time, bump station, etc.). Staff helping with other non outcome varying task can help(accounting, registration, banquets, meetings, emcee if not weighing and/or using computer that can control, etc.).
